An emotion is a strong feeling which illicits physical and behavioral changes in the body.

In our first few years, early childhood, all our behaviour was governed by the emotional centre in the brain. Every emotional experience we have ever had is stored in the subconscious and continues to influence us long after the original incident took place. Our emotional responses were thus programmed into the primitive part of the brain, before the ‘thinking mind’ or intellect started to develop.

Let it all go

The human mind triggers emotional reactions when our perception about how things should be contrasts with how things actually are. We sometimes torment ourselves about choices we’ve made, words we’ve spoken and the path not taken. Or we dwell on the future, postponing our happiness with thoughts about what is missing or wrong in the present moment.

These opposing views, thoughts, perceptions and judgments are the source of our emotional pain.

The mind has a lifetime of conditioned beliefs and expectations through which it creates perceptions. While the body wants to lets go of pain the moment the underlying trauma/problem is healed, the mind has a mysterious instinct for holding on. Through the mind, we create a prison of suffering and then forget that we are the architect and that we ourselves hold the key that will unlock and set us free. We choose.

When we do not heal from grief, anger, death, abuse, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) etc, each time we think of the incident, the body releases the same chemical reaction and re-lives the trauma.

Negative emotions cause a disruption in the body’s energy system and takes place between the ego and the mind. A thought or memory triggers a disruption in the body’s energy system which is experienced as physical or psychological pain.

95% of illnesses are caused by stress.

98% of stress is caused by wrong beliefs and there is a disconnect from reality.
